Born in South Africa during Apartheid, Fozy grew up understanding that outside forces can have an immense impact on how we develop as individuals, families and communities. These external factors can be religious, cultural, political, familial, educational or even financial, but they shape how we develop and function. Our coping mechanisms are greatly impacted by these experiences and, sometimes, we need support to make our way through difficult moments, circumstances or memories.

Throughout Fozy’s career, she has found herself drawn to working with people and being an integral part of trying to make things better. Her experience working at the federal and provincial levels of government as well as at TMU’s Diversity Institute taught her to listen, understand, have empathy, show genuine care and support, and above all, always see the best in people regardless of what they say or do.

Her MBA studies helped her to be analytical, to focus on evidence-based methods and to make informed decisions. Her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology showed her the importance of emotions, to read between the lines and to understand that there are not always easy solutions. Her ongoing studies as part of the Islamic Scholar Certification at the Ribaat Academic Institute continue to increase her knowledge in Islam, the Qur’an and the Hadith.

Fozy has also been a daughter, sister, aunt, mother and wife. All of these experiences have made her patient, accepting, trustworthy and reliable. She invites you to meet in an environment where you will be treated with respect, where you can speak openly and where you will not be judged. She is known to be warm, caring, empathetic and loves to smile.
